Weir Plaza
Project Overview
Lindamood performed mass excavation for a new office tower in the Knox-Henderson corridor of Dallas, on the site of the original Weir’s Furniture store. The project required construction of a 61-foot-deep basement within a highly congested urban environment.
A critical component involved preserving the historic façade of the existing Weir’s building, which remained in place only feet from the excavation limits. Lindamood coordinated closely with the general contractor and retention specialists to monitor, protect, and stabilize the structure throughout construction.
Key project elements included:
157,257 cubic yards of rock excavation
14,296 truckloads hauled off-site
61-foot-deep basement in a dense urban corridor
Façade protection adjacent to excavation limits
Active traffic control and coordination with surrounding businesses
Despite 23 days of weather delays, the project was completed on the original schedule through disciplined sequencing and close coordination with the GC team, ensuring no impact to adjacent properties or the preserved historic structure.
