UTSW St. Paul Hospital
Project Overview
Lindamood performed demolition and excavation of the historic St. Paul University Hospital campus, once a cornerstone of the UT Southwestern system. The project included removal of seven interconnected buildings and two expansive parking lots within an active medical district.
One of the primary structures — a twelve-story tower and the oldest building on the site — was safely brought down through controlled implosion. The work required careful sequencing, engineered planning, and coordination to protect adjacent facilities and maintain uninterrupted campus operations.
Key project elements included:
Demolition of seven buildings within an active healthcare campus
Controlled implosion of a 12-story landmark structure
Demolition and excavation of two large parking lots
Coordination to avoid disruption to ongoing hospital operations
Integrated demolition and earthwork under a single contract
The project was executed under strict schedule constraints, utilizing innovative removal methods to ensure safety, operational continuity, and efficient transition to future redevelopment.
