San Angelo State University Hall Dormitory

Project Overview

Built as student housing in a past era of campus expansion, the ten-story, 104,000-square-foot University Hall stood tall on the Angelo State University campus for decades. But after years of wear and rising renovation costs, the building was deemed structurally and financially unviable for future use.

Lindamood was entrusted with planning and executing the full demolition of the high-rise—this time through a controlled implosion designed to minimize impact on the surrounding active campus. After months of prep, engineering assessments, and coordination with city officials, utility providers, and university leadership, the team safely brought the structure down in seconds with surgical precision.

A crowd of students, alumni, and faculty gathered at dawn to witness the moment, underscoring just how much the building had meant to the community. But the work didn’t stop with the implosion. Lindamood's team stayed on-site to process and crush the debris, recycling and hauling away the concrete to fully clear the area.

Key project outcomes included:

  • Safe implosion of a ten-story dormitory in a populated university setting with zero incidents or off-site impact.

  • Close coordination with campus administration, city officials, and first responders to ensure public safety and operational continuity.

  • Post-blast cleanup and crushing of structural debris to prepare the site for new amenities like running tracks, volleyball courts, and open recreational space.

  • Strong community engagement, with Lindamood’s team visibly present, accessible, and honored to be part of a major campus transition.

With a blend of power, planning, and people-first execution, the University Hall implosion stands as a proud example of Lindamood’s capacity to handle high-visibility, high-risk projects—and do it with both technical excellence and heart.
