Knox District
Project Overview
Lindamood performed demolition and mass excavation for a mixed-use redevelopment in the congested Knox-Henderson corridor of Dallas. The project involved clearing five structures to make way for three high-rise towers, including office, multifamily, hotel, and condominium components.
A key complexity was preservation of the historic façade at Knox Street and the Katy Trail, which was required to remain in place and integrate into the future office tower. Lindamood engineered a hand-separation process and custom shoring system to maintain façade integrity throughout demolition and excavation.
Key project elements included:
Demolition of five structures within a dense urban corridor
Historic façade preservation and stabilization
302,380 cubic yards of rock excavation
27,489 truckloads hauled off-site
65-foot-deep basement excavation
Active traffic control within a high-density neighborhood
The basement excavation was completed two months ahead of schedule through disciplined sequencing and logistics management, protecting adjacent businesses, residents, and pedestrian traffic throughout construction.
