Former Sheraton Hotel Implosion
Project Overview
Lindamood completed the controlled implosion of the former Sheraton Arlington Hotel in Arlington, Texas, supporting the redevelopment of a prominent site within the city's Entertainment District. The 19-story hotel was demolished through a carefully engineered implosion sequence, requiring extensive planning, stakeholder coordination, and safety measures due to its proximity to major roadways, entertainment venues, and surrounding businesses.
The implosion utilized 794 sticks of dynamite totaling approximately 397 pounds of explosives, along with 4,000 feet of detonating cord and 648 detonators. Following the successful collapse, Lindamood managed debris removal, material processing, and recycling operations to prepare the site for future development. Through strategic material recovery efforts, approximately 80% of project materials were diverted from landfills and recycled.
Key project elements included:
Controlled implosion of a 19-story hotel structure
794 sticks of dynamite totaling approximately 397 pounds of explosives
4,000 feet of detonating cord and 648 detonators
Extensive stakeholder coordination and public safety planning
1,468 total debris loads processed
1,181 loads recycled, achieving an 80% recycling rate
Concrete, steel, and mixed debris processing and removal
This project demonstrates Lindamood's expertise in executing high-profile implosions where safety, precision, logistics, environmental stewardship, and stakeholder coordination are critical to project success.
