Block 71
Project Overview
Lindamood completed a complex urban implosion in downtown Austin within a dense, active city environment. The demolition required detailed planning and strict coordination to protect adjacent historic and occupied structures.
The project included controlled implosion of a 12-story tower with a three-story underground parking garage while preserving a 100-year-old building on the same block located within 100 feet of the structure. A 40-foot double curtain system protected nearby glass and surrounding facilities.
Scope also included full abatement, debris removal, and excavation of an 85-foot-deep basement for the new tower within a highly constrained footprint.
Key project elements included:
• Controlled implosion of 12-story structure
• Preservation of adjacent 100-year-old historic building
• 40-foot double curtain protective system
• Demolition of underground parking structure
• 85-foot-deep basement excavation
• Integrated demolition and excavation delivery
By serving as both demolition and excavation contractor, Lindamood accelerated the construction schedule by six weeks. Execution reflects the firm’s ability to perform high-risk implosion operations in dense urban environments while maintaining safety and schedule control.
