Project Overview

Lindamood successfully completed this complex implosion project with historical and fragile structures within proximity of the implosion operation, within a dense urban environment, requiring intricate logistical planning, a critical path schedule with multiple subcontractors and stakeholders. 

Lindamood imploded a 12-story structure with a three-story underground parking garage in downtown Austin. This project consisted of demolishing the existing structure while preserving a 100+ year old building on the same block, this historical building was within 100 feet of the tower that was imploded. As part of the implosion operations a 40-foot double curtain was assembled to protect a glass building across the street, and other sensitive structures in that area.

The scope of work also included a sophisticated trucking logistics plan to not impede flows on 6th street. Lindamood also performed all project abatement and removal. Once the demolition had been completed Lindamood excavated an 85-foot-deep basement for the new tower, in doing so we had to work closely with the retention contractor and carious other trades. Because Lindamood was both the demolition and excavation contractor we were able to shave 6 weeks off the General Contractors schedule.
